Potsdam pictures

Yikes, I totally forgot to post my Potsdam photos! On one of our last days in Germany, we took a brief afternoon trip to Potsdam, just a half-hour train ride out of Berlin. It's a gorgeous place to wander around, but I don't know the names or histories of anything, so I don't have much in the way of captions here...

(No doubt these are German monarchs from a parallel universe.)

These pictures and those statues remind me a lot of Versailles. Except, you know, the windmill part.

That's the Sanssouci palace, which was supposed to be king Frederick of Prussia's favorite. He had a terraced vineyard and gardens built below it in the grade of the hill.

In the last pic we see the legendary historic windmill, which is supposed to be a the symbol of the rule of law in ancient Prussia. According to legend the powerful king Fredrerick wanted it demolished, but the law gave a clear title to the miller and even a powerful king like Fred could not go above the law.

I have no idea where the dimensional portal might be in those gardens and I didn,t even see those alternate timeline negroes when I was walking around the place, many years ago.
