Berlin pictures, part 2

Okay, let's dive into the rest of the Berlin pictures! Marjorie and I spent a full week in Berlin. We stayed at a very nice hotel-slash-hostel right below the river, just North of Kreuzberg. We spent the whole week walking miles and miles every day, eating German things (i.e. lots and lots of dead animals), drinking German things (i.e. beer), snapping photos, and taking in the history and beauty of Berlin. In seven days I was never bored for one second. Here's some of the neat stuff I saw...

The first of many beautiful things I saw after checking into our hotel and leisurely wandering into Mitte was this here Saint Michael on some ol' church. He's killing a serpent, as usual, but from this angle it sort of looks like Donald Duck when he's furious and cursing up a storm.

That's the Brandenburg Gates.
And that's the Reichstag. We came here two different times to attempt going inside to check out the giant glass dome up top, but both times the line was insanely long and we said forget it.

Detail on the Reichstag.
Street performer pretending to be a metal statue pretending to be Tom Waits pretending to not be too drunk to stand up.
Oh man, I couldn't believe my eyes when we bumped into this thing (right across the street from the Holocaust Monument; classy!). The amazing thing is, the exact same hotdog statue is also on the Wildwood New Jersey boardwalk, albeit in much worse condition. I'm very unnerved by his sneakers-and-socks-but-otherwise-naked look here, made popular by 80s porn.
After wandering the city all afternoon we stoped for a drink at an outdoor cafe right on the river. Have I mentioned yet that we were plagued by bees the entire week? This was where we first noticed it; our table was apparently in the path of the afternoon commute for all the bees in Berlin; they'd come by from the same direction every time and leave in the same direction afterward; one bee every thirty seconds or so: "buzz buzz, hey whatcha drinkin? okay, see ya." We thought it was just this one place, but then the rest of the week we had the same experience everywhere; at cafes, in parks, at monuments, etc. Fortunately the bees weren't agressive at all, just persistent.
I think this is the next day; we wandered through the Tiergarten and bumped into this beautiful monument in the middle.

In the park I spied a naked man taking a shower. Why was there a naked man in the park? Why was there a shower in the park?
Neat statue in the Tiergarten.
Wandering out of the Tiergarten again we found ourselves staring at the front of the Reichstag again.
Dinner!

Part 3 coming soon...

Germans lo-o-o-o-o-o-ove getting naked.

Y'oughtta just do what my grandfather did; break in with an army battalion and steal a buncha stuff they got nailed to the walls. Or do what my OTHER grandfather did and join the Nazi Party in 1935, either way, it's a sure ticket

Why was there a naked man in the park? Why was there a shower in the park?

I suspect Germany's homeless population doesn't smell as bad as ours.

Tiergarten is a popular meeting place for gentlemen who want to... get sweaty together.

Your face with the hot dog statue (p0rN) is priceless and so amusing-cute.

The nekkid man - I think we needed a closeup photo to see if his German a$$ compared with the American or French? Some boys are bigger than others.

Cool! Thanks for the great pics! My memory of Berlin was very John Le Carre-like: Cold, wet, rainy - nice to see some brighter images.

There's a clock in your picture that goes with your bees-story, and right above it it says "Abfahrt". Ha ha! Ab fart! It'd be like farting with your bellybutton.
